A Gray Space is committed to protecting your privacy and any personal information you may share with us while using our website. Who we are:

A Gray Space is an independent, unfunded, personal project initiated by Alasdair Gray’s nieces Kat Rolley and Tracy Mutch, along with friend and fellow Alasdair enthusiast Anita Sullivan. We are based in the United Kingdom and you can contact us by email: hello@agrayspace.net

How we collect information from you

Most of the personal information we process is provided by you when you:

  • Sign up to our email newsletter

  • Complete a poll or questionnaire

  • Use a form to contribute to our website

We will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information to third parties unless we are required to do so by law. Within A Gray Space information access rights are managed and subject to role-based need.

A Gray Space uses two types of cookies:

  1. Functional and required cookies: These are always used and allow Squarespace, our hosting platform, to securely serve this website to you. They are necessary so you can navigate and use key features on our website. For example remembering your video player preferences.

  2. Analytics and performance cookies: These are used to collect information about how you interact with our site. These cookies are only used when you acknowledge our cookie banner.

For website visitors

Our website is hosted by Squarespace. Squarespace collects personal data when you visit our website including:

  • Information about your browser, network and device

  • Web pages you visited prior to coming to this website

  • Web pages you view while on this website

  • Your IP address

Squarespace needs this data to run our website and to protect and improve its platform and services. Squarespace analyses this data in a de-personalized form.

For form submissions

When you submit information to A Gray Space via JotForm, we collect the data you submit so we can track and respond to your submissions. We share this information with JotForm, our online forms hosting provider. So that they can provide website services to us. We also share this information with Google Workspace for storage.

Marketing emails

We will send you emails if you have signed up to receive our newsletters. You can unsubscribe by clicking the link at the bottom of the email. We share your email address with JotForm and Google Workspace, for storage. And our email marketing provider, so they can send these emails on our behalf.

Fonts

Our website uses font files from Google Fonts and Adobe Fonts. To properly display this site, servers where the font files are stored may receive information including your browser, network, device or your IP address.

Embedded content

Pages on alasdairgrayspace.net may include embedded content from third party services, such as JotForm, YouTube or Vimeo. Embedded content from other websites behaves as if you had visited their sites. They may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking and monitor your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged into the third party service.

Your data protection rights

You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information. If you believe any information we hold about you is incorrect or incomplete, please email us at hello@agrayspace.net. We will correct any errors as soon as possible.

You have a right to ask us to erase your personal information. You have a right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal data in some circumstances. For example if you no longer want to receive our email newsletter, please unsubscribe or email hello@agrayspace.com

You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation or to you, in certain circumstances.

You are not required to pay a charge to exercise your rights. If you make a request we have one month to respond to you.
